Yantra Art

One of my close friends recently asked me: “Is making spiritual artwork dissociative or meditative?”

I have learned that it’s both. The surrealist artworks I created in October, November, and December were largely about exploring the capacity of the human imagination. I got lost for hours, without a road map. These meditative YANTRA artworks require just enough focus to where I can get lost in my imagination but keep on foot on earth; whether by making proper measurements or making sure I paint “inside the lines”-ish. Having the time and space to create YANTRA art has been healing for me.

What is YANTRA?
“Yantras function as revelatory symbols of cosmic truths and as instructional charts of the spiritual aspect of human experience. All the primal shapes of a yantra are psychological symbols corresponding to inner states of human consciousness, through which psychic forces are possible.” — Madhu Khanna

I’m making a gentle foray back into spiritual artwork. There’ve been some unexpected subconscious roadblocks along the way, but I feel the innovation, passion, and experimentation returning in small increments :) Stay tuned, stay patient, and I think you’ll be happy with what I’ve uncovered.
